To Civil War enthusiasts, and many Americans in general, the name Ken Burns needs no introduction. From his first documentary film, Brooklyn Bridge, which received an Oscar nomination for best documentary, Burns has continued to produce award-winning films covering a wide variety of topics in American history. Most famous of his work, of course, is his ground-breaking series The Civil War, which first aired on PBS in 1990.
